About this Series

This critically acclaimed epic fantasy series follows a young woman’s journey to discover who she is and an assassin who must choose between following the darkness or the light.

*Genre: Epic Fantasy (Best for Adults 18+)

Book 1: Daughter of Light

What if with one touch you could see inside the soul?

Rowen Mar finds a strange mark on her hand, and she is banished from her village as a witch. She covers the mark with a leather glove and seeks sanctuary in the White City. She lives in fear that if she touches another person, the power inside her will trigger again, a terrifying power that allows her to see the darkness inside the human heart . . .

But the mark is a summons, and those called cannot hide forever. For the salvation of her people lies within her hand.

My thoughts

Three Words: Beautiful, Inspiring, Epic!

I first came across this series back in 2022, when the covers were very different! And wow, oh, wow! Each book shines brilliantly from start to finish! Set in a vivid world where kingdoms clash, villages and towns bustle, and a hidden dark power seeks to devour it all.

I was drawn to Rowen Mar’s journey; my heart hurt for her in her struggles throughout the trilogy, but I couldn’t help but root for her as she learns to trust both the One who calls her and the people she comes to connect with.

But Rowen’s story is not the only one we follow in this epic trilogy. Caleb Tala is a blackhearted assassin who kills first and doesn’t ask questions and has no idea of the destiny that will change his life. Captain Lore of the White City Guard is a man with a loyal heart of gold and ocean in his veins, whose faith is steadfast. And then there’s Nierne, a young female scribe of Thyra who’s gone through all sorts of terror and heartache in her search for the hope that will save the realms.

There are so many other characters who stood out so incredibly: men and women from all walks of life face their choices and struggle to find hope and light when evil and darkness seem to thrive. But what I love about Ms. Busse’s writing is that in the end—when all hope seems lost—there is always The Word.

Honestly, Ms. Bussee's fantasy books are truly inspiring!!!

My personal rating: 5.5 STARS!
